Coronavirus - Advice for Parents
Beginning of spring term 2021
January 15th 2021
Dear Parent/Carer
Firstly, I hope you all continue to be well and safe. School is currently open to Year 11’s (4 days a week), Year 10’s (4 days a week), Students of Critical workers (5 days a week) and other identified KS3 students who need further support at school (Wednesday and Fridays). This is a total of 36 students, some 40% of the school population.
Now, a few things please:
Google Classroom
At present, learning is a combination of both face-to-face learning and online learning via our Google Classroom. Please can you make sure your son/daughter signs into Google Classroom with the login details supplied in December. Any problems, please contact the school. We still have a number of devices available should you require one.
Key Stage 4 Learning Review Day (LRD)
This is for Years 11, 10 and 9. The traditional Parents Review Evening will obviously not be able to happen because of Covid restrictions. Instead, Tutors will contact you on Tuesday onwards to book a meeting via ZOOM with you, for a mutually convenient time during the week of January 25th . In that 20-minute meeting, you will be able to discuss:
- The December school report and academic progress
- Issues in the school regarding learning
- What is Working Well (WWW)
- Even Better if’s (EBI)
- ‘Next Steps’
Once this has been completed, year 9 students can then begin the Options process which Ms Maxen will run with you.
Free School meals
A letter has already been sent to families with vouchers for last week and this week from school. The 4 weeks that follow will be funded through Edenred. For ½ term, school will post a voucher for that week. I anticipate that after ½ term there will be clearer guidance regarding future support.

Conclusions
Please feel free to contact the school should you have any queries or concerns. Otherwise, keep learning and of course, keep safe.
Yours sincerely
